Panning Progress: Buxom Toxic Cherry

I got this lipstick from my Sister in law for Christmas last year. At the time I had 5 red lipsticks and I was trying not to have a panic attack about it. I am currently down to TWO! Can you believe it? I basically wore exclusively red lipstick this year.

It the Buxom Bold Gel Lipstick in Toxic Cherry (Matte). The formula is actually quite strange because it is a matte gel formula. It’s surprisingly pigmented for such a thin formula. After you apply it, it feels like a powder. It took some getting used to for me. I a used to moisturizing formulas you need to build up.

The colour is absolutely stunning. It’s a bright and bold cherry red that makes a statement. It’s also a velvety looking matte. All the photos I take wearing this lipstick turn out great.

It has two major downsides though. Firstly, it does emphasize dry flaky bits on your lips so you need to exfoliate before you put this on. Secondly, it doesn’t wear off nicely. You need to touch up every few hours. I have been unpleasantly surprised more than once when looking in the bathroom mirror because it has looked patchy and weird. It’s such a bright and bold colour that you really notice any bald patches.

I have been wearing this a lot but I’m not sure you can tell from the photo. About a cm is gone from the lipstick since the first picture. It’s very pigmented so you don’t need to use a lot, which will make it a difficult lipstick to pan.
