Yay I used something up!
I used to be super into the Philosophy shower gels years ago. They come in all sorts of yummy scents. Late last year I bought one of the big shower gels and this travel size in this Vanilla Cake Mix scent. Something was off about the big one. I remembered it smelling amazing but it didn’t really have much smell at all. I was super disappointed.
It took me a while to dig this small one out of my pile of shower gels to use. I’m so glad I did though because this one was exactly like I remember. It smelled amazing. Like washing yourself with cake batter. It lathered beautifully and the vanilla scent lingers for a while.
I think the big one was expired or something. When I told everyone about it on instagram (@all_makeup_empties), others said they had been experiencing inconsistencies with the philosophy shower gels too. One person commented that some products went downhill when the company was acquired by Coty Inc. I looked up Coty and I was shocked to see all the brands they own, like Burberry, Covergirl, OPI, Tiffany’s, Clairol and more.
Right now I think I will take a break from buying philosophy shower gels unless I hear some really positive reviews. I can’t afford to spend $18 on a shower gel for it to possibly suck.
I haven’t seen a lot of brands come out with vanilla or chocolate scented shower gels. I think everybody except me is over them. Let me know if you see any good ones.
